SARWG

Dedicated to wine appreciation and amateur winemaking

This website was last updated August 30th, 2012

The San Antonio Regional Wine Guild (SARWG) was founded on May 16th, 1976, at the Old Standby Saloon in Castroville, Texas. Charlie Suehs had the honor to be elected SARWG's first President, Robert (Bob) Jorrie the first Vice President, and Dorothy Alatorre the first Secretary-Treasurer. They paved the way, and we are grateful.

SARWG normally meets the third Sunday of each month except November (the Executive Council meets instead) and December (first Sunday), or when scheduling problems require an alternative, as below. Meeting sites vary, but here is the current schedule (some are on Saturday):

  • 2014
  • January 19, at Cany & Sarah Moore's, near Pleasanton, Texas
  • February 16, at Mesinna Hof Winery, Stonewall, Texas
  • March 16, at Jack & Donna Keller's, Pleasanton, TX
  • April 27, Spring Competition, Chat Noir Restaurant Patio, Catroville, Texas
  • May 18, at Vine on the Rocks Winery, Dunlay, Texas
  • June 22 at James& Elsie Leppert's, Natalia, Texas
  • July 19, at Byron Barmes', San Anonio, Texas
  • August 17, to be announced (but proably in Texas)
  • September 21, Judging Medina County Fair Wine Competition, Hondo, Texas
  • October 19, Fall Competition, Chat Noir Restaurant Patio, Castroville, Texas
